ACHF Competition directors: feel free to use the biography and photos on this page if you need it for your program!
Oak City Clogging Crew is based in the Raleigh, NC area and was established in April 2011. Members range in age from 12 to 50+ years old and have been clogging as little as 1 year to 20 years and greater. Oak City was founded and is directed by Tayler Gentle. Kathy Todd is OCC’s assistant director and she has been on the team since the beginning. Kathy was the main driving force in the establishment of Oak City Clogging Crew, pushing Tayler to create a team solely under her direction.
The team has competed in ACHF since June 2011 and has attended ACHF Nationals each year since their first year. Both traditional and contemporary styles of clogging are taught and competed on this team. The Oak City Cloggers also host an annual ACHF-sanctioned clogging competition in January on the Saturday before the Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday. Oak City’s Winter Invitational is held at Louisburg College in Louisburg, NC. Oak City has also performed at some local events throughout the Piedmont when they are not gearing up for competitions.
Oak City Clogging Crew sticks by their motto which is, family, friends, and fun…that is what clogging is all about! In addition to clogging at performances and competitions, the team also engages in fun team bonding activities on occasion, which has included concerts, dinners, and team photo shoots. Since members are located throughout the Piedmont region of North Carolina, the team practices one weekend day per month to accommodate dancers traveling from out-of-town.
